DERA HAS TWOFOLD THE MUKURO DERE. One is just like. Mukuro's Ruby identity is super strongly tied to Dera. Even after the reset Dera is Still More Important in terms of how much he cares about team and so forth. IF DERA LEAVES IT WOULD BE VERY EASY FOR MUKURO TO NOT CARE ABOUT RUBY cos. He has somehow made that attachment. And Dera is also just the person who "gets" him the most and well there is this like COMFORT SECURITY of being able to give Dera attention and get the immediate positive feedback :D;;;

AND THEN THERE IS THE OTHER SIDE of just deredere. ALL THE DERE. And this is the funny side cos it is also like WAO BETTER JUST LIE TO DERE SO HE ISN'T UPSET FUCK YEAH. But this is also the draping and so forth and buh buh hartz hartz.

With both of those comes the HEY LET'S BANG I guess though it is hilariously more of a sign of MINE and I LIKE YOU.

Mukuroooooo \o/ sob okay so. Dera's sense of self-worth is most heavily tied into Mukuro. He neeeeeeds to feel like he's doing something worthwhile for Mukuro in order to feel like he has a real value on the team. Thankfully this doesn't mean that it always has to involve getting praise from Mukuro. For example, the aftermath thread they had following Yayoi seeing the murder memory—that was definitely doing something of value! Whether or not Mukuro thanked him, Dera would've still felt useful because he was helping explain wtf to do and how to get the best result (as he saw it). Also like way back during the Gil finger breaking mess when Dera kicked him and bitched him out a little; he'd still do the same thing now and feel just fine about it because that's what Mukuro needs. :U Basically as long as he can parse an action in his own mind as being beneficial to Mukuro, his self worth won't take a hit.

Unfortunately Mukuro's also the target of his "I will be the best [x]" obsession. He wants Mukuro to like him the most and to pay him the most attention and to think he's awesome and useful and valuable—which is also tied into how much self worth he has. :D; If Mukuro is displeased with him, his self-worth will drop (though this IS countered in situations like the stuff in the previous paragraph.) It just makes for a terrible double-whammy if Dera ever does (think) he messed up somehow.

Healthiest of healthy sections aside, the dating thing really is an attempt by Dera to just remain in that favorite position. :|a He is legitimately attached to Mukuro with feeeeeelings and doesn't at all mind the physical relationship, but it would've taken longer to get there if he hadn't felt threatened by the whole SLEEPING WITH LUKE!!11 thing. So it is a mutual MINE/I LIKE YOU relationship :Db

His approach to the enemies thing is basically the same too. H-HA HA LET'S IGNORE THAT THAT'S DUMB \:D/

N-NO. I MEAN LIKE. he kind of has BUT DOESN'T REALLY PROCESS IT?? like ken and chikusa argue all the time and it isn't a problem. And whatever. And he doesn't really parse the jealousy... problems... cos whatever I HARTZ U BOTH AND I WOULD SLEEP WITH YOU BOTH and it is just like. a Universal Truth for him the same way Team is >D like it honestly didn't occur to him making out in Luke's bed is a bad choice.

RUBY IS GREAT except Oz is like a shed that no one uses. Like if the analogy of Ruby is a house that Dera sees as AWESOME AND WELL CONSTRUCTED AND EVERYTHING IS GREAT AND WONDERFUL except for this ugly ass shed that's got missing boards and a cracked window. That shed is Oz. But he is trying to fix it up . . .

He's also kind of dubious about Luke lately, but doesn't think it's a real problem? :|a Luke can be a doghouse that goes with the house and is well maintained and cared for and has a clear purpose for the house but is still not part of the house.

IN THE LONG RUN YES. How much effort it takes to get there depends on how things unfold. Like whether or not he's talked to before Mukuro and Luke go make out, whether Mukuro is going to go bang other people too without saying a thing, who those other people are, etc.

What game do you want to see repeated the most? You can pull from Sabra if there's one you liked especially from there.
